DRIVER'S LICENSE AND AGE RESTRICTIONS

To rent a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old and have held a B category driver's license for at least 1 year.

To be eligible for the Young Driver Fee program, the conditions below and in the table must be met.

  • To rent vehicles in the Economy segment, you must be at least 21 years old and have held a driver's license for 1 year.
  • Individuals aged 19-21 with 1 year of driving experience can rent vehicles from the economy group by paying the Young Driver Fee.
  • To rent vehicles in the Comfort segment, you must be at least 23 years old and have held a driver's license for 2 years.
  • Individuals aged 21-23 with 2 years of driving experience can rent vehicles from the comfort group by paying the Young Driver Fee.
  • To rent vehicles in the Prestige segment, you must be at least 25 years old and have held a driver's license for 2 years.
  • Individuals aged 23-25 with 2 years of driving experience can rent vehicles from the prestige group by paying the Young Driver Fee.
  • To rent vehicles in the Premium segment, you must be at least 27 years old and have held a driver's license for 3 years.
  • Individuals aged 25-27 with 3 years of driving experience can rent vehicles from the premium group by paying the Young Driver Fee.
  • To rent vehicles in the Luxury segment, you must be at least 27 years old and have held a driver's license for 3 years.
  • The Young Driver Fee is not applicable to luxury segment vehicles.

RENTAL DURATION

The minimum rental period for daily rentals is 24 hours, while for monthly rentals it is 30 days.

INCLUSIONS AND EXCLUSIONS IN PRICES

Damage Liability Waiver, Theft Protection, and 18% Value Added Tax are included in the prices. For daily car rental service, the mileage allowance is 150 kilometers per day, and for rentals of 30 days or more, it is limited to 3000 kilometers per contract. For monthly car rental service, the mileage allowance is limited to 3000 kilometers. The excess mileage fee varies by vehicle group, and detailed information can be obtained from our reservation center or offices. Fuel, Personal Accident Insurance, Mini Damage Waiver, Optional Liability Insurance, One-Way Fee, Delivery / Collection Fee (0-26 km), Baby Seat, GPS Navigation, Additional Driver, and Toll Pass Usage Fee are calculated separately. Vehicles are delivered to the customer with a full tank of gasoline. In case of return with incomplete or empty tank, the fuel difference will be charged along with the service fee.

ONE-WAY FEES

If the vehicle is picked up from one city and returned to another, a one-way fee determined by SMT FILO will be applied. Fee information varies by office and can be viewed during the reservation process. For detailed information, you can contact our Reservation Center.

ADDITIONAL DRIVER SERVICE

To allow the vehicle to be used by a person or persons other than the lessee, the Driver's License information of the additional driver must be added to the Rental Agreement for an additional fee. In the event of any accident caused by users not included in the rental agreement, all coverage becomes invalid, and both the lessor and the driver(s) are jointly and severally liable. For price and detailed information, please contact our Reservation Center. (The conditions for renting an additional driver are the same as those for Driver's License and Age Restrictions.)

 

VEHICLE DELIVERY AND PICK-UP SERVICE

Prepayment and Deposit:

  • The vehicle you have reserved will be checked for your credit score in our offices using the Credit Bureau's Findeks application.
  • In case of prepaid reservations, if your credit limit is insufficient, the car rental fee will be refunded to you within 3 to 5 business days.
  • The deposit will be refunded to the same card after deducting additional charges at the end of the rental.
  • Deposit refunds will be reflected on your credit card within 3-5 business days.

Vehicle Return Period:

  • A grace period of up to 59 minutes is applied for delays in returning vehicles.

Payment Terms:

The total rental fee and security deposits are collected at the beginning of the rental with a personal credit card belonging to the person renting the vehicle, with his/her name and credit card number on it. Cash payments, debit and virtual card applications are not available.

The rental agreement is opened during the rental process and is regulated according to the laws and practices of the country where the rental is made. SMT FİLO General Rental Conditions apply to all rentals.

Any difference in the invoice amount that may occur at the end of the rental will be collected or refunded at the rental point. The credit card holder must be present during the rental. Rental cannot be made with someone else's credit card.

In addition to the rental fee, a certain amount of deposit is collected from the credit card presented by the customer, depending on the make and model of the vehicle to be rented. Therefore, it is necessary to have a sufficient limit (the total amount of rent and deposit). The amount collected as deposit will be refunded to the same card after the rental period, after deducting any additional services, guarantees, missing fuel, damage, fines, etc. that are not included in the reservation. Due to bank internal communication, deposit refunds may take 3-5 business days to be reflected on your credit card after the refund process is completed.

ONLINE PRE-PAID (PAY NOW) RESERVATION AND RENTAL:

The term Online Pre-Payment/Pay Now means that you can pay for your rental fee and selected additional services online, immediately.

The online reservation page does not replace the car rental agreement, whether the reservation is confirmed or not. The rental is made in the name of the person whose name appears on the Pre-Paid Reservation Form.

For 3D security reasons, the cardholder and the reservation holder do not have to be the same person during the online payment process. However, during the rental process, the reservation holder must present a credit card in his/her own name and the deposit process must be completed.

If SMT FİLO cannot provide the rental service due to reasons related to itself, it will refund the entire amount previously paid by the customer.

For rentals made from SMT FİLO rental offices, the amount of pre-paid reservations is limited to the amount written on SMT FİLO Pre-Paid Reservation Forms.

SMT FİLO Pre-Paid Reservation forms do not include additional services and guarantees that our customers may request at the beginning or during the rental process, as well as fuel, one-way, traffic fine and damage fees (in cases where the conditions described in the What to do in case of an accident and theft section of the Rental Agreement are not met). Customers are required to present a personal credit card for these charges.

SMT FİLO is not responsible for any commissions, exchange rate differences, service charges, etc. that may be applied by the banks to which the credit cards used belong, for any reason.

If SMT FİLO cannot provide the rental service due to reasons related to itself, it will refund the entire amount previously paid by the customer.

The SMT FİLO Pre-Paid Reservation amount includes the vehicle rental fee and additional services you have purchased during the reservation. A personal credit card must be presented for additional services and possible extras that you will receive from the office at the beginning of the rental (HGS, fuel, traffic fine, one-way, in cases where the conditions described in the What to do in case of an accident and theft section of the Rental Agreement are not met).
 

Prepaid Reservation Terms and Conditions:

  • Pick-up day, time, vehicle information, and rental office cannot be updated or changed for prepaid reservations.
  • The total amount for the vehicle rental fee and any additional products and insurance packages you have selected will be charged at the time of booking for prepaid reservations.
  • The discount obtained with a prepaid reservation cannot be combined with another campaign.
  • In a rental made with a prepaid reservation, if the rental period exceeds the period specified on the reservation form, the additional fee will be charged from the credit card presented by our customer at the beginning of the rental, with a 20% discount on the list prices for the extension days.
  • In prepaid reservations, if the vehicle is returned early before the reservation return end date, our customers will not be refunded for unused days.
  • If the reservation is canceled up to 24 hours before the vehicle pick-up time in prepaid reservations, the entire rental fee will be refunded by SMT FİLO.
  • If there is less than 24 hours left to the prepaid reservation rental start time, the following conditions apply:
  • 1-day deduction is applied for 1-3 day reservations.
  • 2-day deduction is applied for 4-7 day reservations.
  • A 20% deduction is applied for 8 days and above reservations.
  • In prepaid reservations, vehicles will be kept waiting for our customers for 2 hours from the pick-up time. Within these two hours, our customers will be able to pick up their vehicles. After 2 hours, the reservation will be automatically canceled by the reservation system and no refund will be made.
  • The refund process for Prepaid Reservations varies between 3 and 5 business days depending on the bank's transaction volume.
  • In order for the vehicles to be delivered to our customers in Prepaid Reservations, the General Rental Conditions and the following conditions must be met. If the following conditions are not met, the vehicle will not be allocated and the above refund conditions apply.
  • The payment method for the deposit is only personal credit card and there is no cash payment or debit card application.
  • The deposit amount, which varies depending on the rental type and vehicle group, must be provided from the personal credit card.
  • The credit card must contain the name, surname and credit card number of the person who will rent the car.
  • There must be sufficient limit availability for the deposit amount to be placed on the credit card in addition to the rental fee.
  • The person who will pick up the vehicle must present their driver's license and their own credit card to the SMT FİLO office.
  • To be able to rent Middle and Upper segment vehicles, 1 credit card from different banks must be presented.
  • The writings on the driver's licenses must be legible and the driver's license must not be worn out.
  • If the T.C. Identity number is not written on the driver's license, the T.C. Identity must be presented.
  • Foreign license holders must present their passport/country entry stamp to the office where they will rent the car.

RENTAL WITH A FOREIGN DRIVING LICENSE

  • Turkish citizens who will rent know and accept that it is only possible to drive in our country with driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries under the following terms and conditions:
    1. With driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries, the vehicle can be used for a maximum of 1 year from the date of entry into our country.
    2. Those who have been in our country for more than six months are required to have the Turkish translation of their driver's license approved by foreign representatives or a notary, along with their driver's license, while driving.
    3. At the end of one year, in order to drive in our country, it is mandatory to replace the driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries with our country's driver's license.
  • Foreign nationals who will rent know and accept that it is possible to drive in our country with the driver's licenses they have obtained from foreign countries under the following terms and conditions:
    1. With driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries, the vehicle can be used for a maximum of six months from the date of entry into our country.
    2. At the end of six months, in order to drive in our country, the driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries must be replaced with our country's driver's license.
  • For foreign driver's licenses, if the driver's license issuance date and the customer's name are written in Latin alphabet and can be read, car rental can be made. If it is not written in the Latin alphabet, a notarized translation must be declared.

Without prejudice to the relevant laws and the provisions of bilateral and multilateral agreements, the procedures and principles regarding the replacement of driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries with our country's driver's licenses are stated below:

  • The application can be made to any traffic registration institution.
  • The information and documents that must be submitted during the application are determined by the General Directorate of Security.
  • For those who will obtain a driver's license, the conditions of not being convicted, age, education and health in the same article are required, except for the education and examination requirements specified in Article 41 of Law No. 2918. However, without prejudice to the provisions of bilateral or multilateral agreements and practices, for foreigners with diplomatic exemption, their written declarations that they meet the necessary conditions are taken as basis.
  • When necessary, examination and research can be carried out regarding the accuracy of the driver's license through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or our foreign representatives.
  • Temporarily obtained foreign driver's licenses cannot be changed.
  • Driving licenses obtained from countries that are not parties to the Road Traffic Convention and where we do not have a bilateral agreement regarding the mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses cannot be exchanged with our country's driver's license.
  • Driver's licenses obtained by Turkish citizens from countries that are party to the Road Traffic Convention are replaced with equivalent or equivalent driver's licenses.
  • Our country's driver's licenses, which are the equivalent of driver's licenses issued to foreigners to drive motorized bicycles (mopeds), motorcycles, rubber-tired tractors, work machines or automobiles from countries that are parties to the Road Traffic Convention, and driver's licenses issued to drive other types of vehicles are our country's Class B driver's licenses. Certificate, but the documents of those who are authorized to drive these vehicles with a trailer are replaced with our country's BE class driver's license. If driver's licenses other than these are requested, training and examination requirements are also required.
  • In order for people who have obtained a driver's license from foreign countries to obtain a different class of driver's license in our country, they must convert the driver's license they obtained from foreign countries into our country's driver's license.
  • Driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries, which are replaced with our country's driver's licenses, are sent to the relevant country.
  • Action will be taken in accordance with Article 39 of Law No. 2918 against those who drive without meeting the conditions specified in this article with their driver's licenses obtained from foreign countries.

RENTAL WITH CHIP ID CARD

In all your rental transactions, you must present a driver's license appropriate to the vehicle class being rented, as well as your old or new ID documents.

 

EXTENSION OF TIME, VEHICLE CHECK AND MONTHLY MILEAGE PROCEDURES

  1. Extending the Rental Period: If you want to extend your rental period, you must apply and receive approval. Any extensions you make without approval will constitute a violation of the lease agreement. Since the fee information in your rental agreement is limited to the dates specified in the agreement, you can call the SMT FLEET Office where you made your rental for updated price information on the dates you will extend your rental period.
  2. Monthly Mileage Collection: If there is a mileage excess in the rental you want to terminate, the mileage fee will be charged separately, in line with the monthly mileage limit (3,000 km) and mileage fees specified in the rental conditions. There is no pool mileage application for monthly rentals over one month. If there is an excess mileage limit, it will be collected from you every month, in line with the updated mileage information obtained by verbal declaration. Considering the total time used when the rental ends, if the total mileage is below the specified limit, the mileage excess fee will be refunded based on your last contract.
  3. Control Times of Vehicles: For monthly or daily rentals that continue without a price change, you must bring the vehicle to the office every 3 months within the scope of vehicle checks. You are obliged to visit our SMT FLEET Office within the scope of price changes and contract renewals.
